Mairette Newman is an education specialist at the Commonwealth of Learning where she manages the Virtual University for Small States of the Commonwealth (VUSSC). Partnering with Ministries, agencies and post-secondary institutions she designs, implements and evaluates educational projects. Prior to joining COL, Mairette was Co-ordinator for Graduate Studies in the School of Education at the University of the West Indies, Jamaica. Her specific areas of interest and expertise include, educational leadership, teacher education, online teaching and learning and curriculum review. Mairette holds a BA (National University of Ireland), Dip Ed (Trinity College, Dublin), MEd (UWI) and EdD (Griffith University, Australia).
