Dr. Sangeeta Ghate is a Gold Medalist in Economics and a Ph.d holder in Economics with over 28 years of academic experience. She began her academic/teaching career by serving as a lecturer in Govt. commerce college Gandhinagar from 1992-2004. Thereafter, considering her qualification, hard work, simplicity, determination and right attitude she was appointed as the Principal of G.I.A Umiya Arts and Commerce College in 2004. During her tenure as the Principal she has completed two research projects funded by UGC & ICSSR on “Budgeting in social sector with special reference to women & girls in Gujarat” and “Performance, challenges and prospects in Akshay patra scheme in Gujarat”, and has authored three books namely “FDI- growing role in global business”, “Performance, challenges, and prospects of Akshay Patra scheme in Gujarat” and “Be a torch bearer”. She has also successfully completed two cycles of NAAC and has undertaken 23 initiatives to help students pursue good quality higher education and become self-reliant, independent and above all humble human beings and responsible citizens.
With her expertise and wisdom, she is presently serving as a Ph.d guide and a senate member in Gujarat University. Under her leadership and administration, her college is rated as amongst “top 100” colleges of India by India Today consecutively for the last five years and has become known as the best girls college in Ahmedabad with students winning several championships in sports and cultural events.
Amongst above she has proven excellence in the development of strong rapport with students, colleagues and administration. She exhibits particular expertise in the creation and implementation of various learning programs necessary for personalized development of her students to propel in higher education and serves as an inspirational tutor for recognizing and encouraging individual growth.
